Treue der Union is located on High Street between 3rd & 4th street in Comfort, TX.
Erected in 1865. One of only six in the nation, this is the only Union Cemetery that is on what was once Confederate held territory. This is also the only one of the six that, by an Act of Congress, is permitted to fly a period flag of 36 stars at half mast 24 hours a day. There are 19 men buried (those killed at the Nueces River) in a mass grave just to the left of the monument. Note, that these men were NOT Union solders, but were German Union Loyalist's attempting to make there way into Mexico and then by ship to New Orleans to enlist in the Union Army.
