According to the Des Moines County Pioneer Cemetery Commission, the first cemetery in Burlington, Iowa, was Burlington Cemetery. It was also known as Smith Cemetery, for the owner of the land for which it was located. The location is approximate. Later the cemetery was relocated to Aspen Grove Cemetery and is near the Civil War Memorial.
