This grave is the "final resting place for Jesse Chisolm, famed Indian trader, for whom the Chisolm Trail is named. He died in 1868 at a nearby encampment. Chisolm was instrumental in establishing peaceful trade relations between [sic] whites, the eastern Indians, and the Plains Indians. Listed in National Register 12/16/71."
